Early Life
Salva Marjan is a 25-year-old motorsports enthusiast from Perambra, a small town in Kozhikode, Kerala, India. Growing up in a middle-class family, Salva developed a passion for car racing from a young age. She was inspired by famous racers like Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton.
Challenges and Support
Salva faced many challenges on her journey to becoming a professional racer. The biggest obstacles were financial difficulties and societal expectations. In her community, people often questioned her parents' decision to support a girl in pursuing a risky career like motorsports. However, her parents stood by her side, believing in her potential and treating her the same as any boy.
Career Beginnings
Salva began her professional racing career in India in 2018 by joining Formula LGB racing. She later competed in the F4 Indian Championship and the F4 UAE Championship in 2023. To improve her skills and gain better opportunities, she recently moved to the United Arab Emirates for training.
Breaking Barriers
In January 2025, Salva Marjan will make history by becoming the first woman from Kerala to participate in the prestigious Formula 1 Academy, organized by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). Competing in a sport that is traditionally male-dominated due to its physical and mental demands, Salva has shown remarkable resilience and determination.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Salva Marjan hopes to inspire young girls to pursue their dreams, no matter the obstacles. She aims to represent India on the grand stage of Formula 1 and prove that gender is no barrier to success in motorsports.
